Excited - I really enjoyed the setting and visual style of Gravity Rush/Daze. Get in. Vita needs more games like this.
That said, I feel that a sequel needs to focus more on innovative ways to use the innovative mechanics rather than incredibly repetitive combat and time trials. Plus, stop taking our powers away and instead give us exciting different ways to use them please Studio Japan...
@Trunkz Jr: Yes, agreed. The scapegoating needs to stop, and the buck stops with the parents.
@Mika: that said, I agree with you as well - it's unhealthy to put our fingers in our ears and pretend that games can't exert an influence (be it corruptive or compulsive) on a small number of people. It's a complex issue that deserves to be talked about with an open mind, not yelled about in blanket statements.
Yeah, Kamiya's said this before - let's hope it happens. Either that or Ninty uses their new Namco connections to get Kono and Project Aces involved...
Erm, guys... Bethesda HAS NOT confirmed that the DLC won't come to PS3. At all. The article's sources (which are two weeks old and based on news that already appeared on N4G ages ago) all state that Bethesda are actually working as hard as possible to make it happen!
There's a possibility that Dawnguard etc won't come to PS3. But it's not a certainty - at all. Bethesda don't want to lose out on all that delicious money after all...
@Hicken: the article sets out to ask and answer a specific question by exploring both sides of an argument. Framing the question in the title is absolutely appropriate in this context, surely?
A flamebait/hit seeking title would have been "Big Picture Mode *IS* a console killer." Even your suggestion is more inflammatory since it's designed to pull in people who feel that it could be and browbeat them. The title only serves to draw people in if they're *alre...
Absolutely agreed - but that's one of the main premises of the piece.
Erm... it's probably the best brawler of this generation from a mechanical standpoint.
Don't blame Platinum - they'd have published it through SEGA if they hadn't dropped the title (rumours are looking much more likely now) and delayed Anarchy Reigns. Nintendo swooped in and picked it up - just be glad that it's being made at all.
Yeah, I'd rather play it on my PS3 or 360. But the Wii U is definitely on my shopping list, maybe after Christmas/2013.
This. Give me a fun game with unique art direction that's properly designed for the platform, not shiny graphics. I've got a PC and consoles for that.
The article clearly explains that:
"But Big Picture Mode isn't really about muscling in anywhere. It's about providing the established community with a more convenient user experience, a fun and functional little update that makes our lives slightly easier. While it might convince a few PC owners who've been sitting on the fence to finally invest in an HDMI/DVI/DisplayPort cable and get involved, challenging the console market is another thing entirely."...
@Xof: Yeah, it's a strange position. Premium hardware, a few truly great games, but enough gaps in the release schedule to make many owners more than a little conflicted (not to mention those who haven't made up their minds)).
@GribbleGrunger: Not sure that bloggers/journos/pundits need to write for "camps" unless they're a special interest publication (like a PS3 or Xbox 360 site). Otherwise, the message is 'good times now, but Sony needs to keep up...
Agreed, Platinum Games (and Clover, well put Venox2008) always deliver - they're one of the most consistent and innovative developers out there.
This is really useful - I've played both PS2 games and all the spin-offs except Re:Coded, and I've pretty much lost the plot over the years (thanks to all that jargon mainly). Wish I knew about this article series ahead of time, going to pore over the whole thing later.
Agreed. Our medium is capable of so much more than so many people give it credit for, and it's fantastic that gaming is being increasingly explored as an art form - in the same way that music and art have also been incorporated into church services, education and beyond.
Plus, it's nice to see more mainstream pundits praising the potential of games rather than branding them as evil or corruptive.
You're right, I think Flower was used too.
The trailer is really exciting - hopefully Capcom are just handling publishing/distribution so Dontnod can focusing on making the best damn game they can!
It's not really a 'new' IP: Capcom basically bought the rights to a project that's been in development for years under a different name. http://n4g.com/news/1059224...
Not sure about that - reckon that the Ouya will exist in a completely separate ecosystem - one that compliments the mainstream consoles rather than competes with them. With a massive and more varied games library, costing far less than the next-gen Xbox/PS4, this could become a proper 'second console.'
They had me at XBMC, to be honest.
I agree, it brought gaming into the living room and opened up what was once a fairly insular hobby to absolutely everyone. The Wii was incredibly important.
BUT... Nintendo stopped supporting it for the longest time, and failed to listen to the fanbase (to the extent where Operation Rainfall had to exist).
